The project designers Jessica Hobbs and Rebecca Anders had trouble sourcing balanced propane manifolds that would serve their needs. Specifically they needed 16 outputs per manifold. Lockwood pulse jets are typically made from stainless steel sheet metal. I used planks of wood that have holes drilled in such a way that when the assembly is stacked and bolted together the internal cavity forms the shape of the Lockwood pulse jet design. Propane is plumbed into the combustion chamber to fuel the jet. A shopvac was used to blow air into the wood pulse jet to sustain its operation.
